Soto Lab
"Use-inspired science that informs coupled natural-human systems"
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to conduct ‘use-inspired’ research that informs societal choices in the pursuit of sustainability. Our lab works with social and natural scientists to develop interdisciplinary research that re-examines human relationships with the environment, as well as with the use, misuse, and overuse of natural resources. We are committed to generating knowledge that can be integrated into decision-making processes on some of the most pressing issues facing our society. Some of our current research topics include: assessment and valuation of ecosystem services; integrated land use planning; human-wildlife conflicts; and payments for ecosystem services.
